BJP MP Raghav Chadha meets Uzbek Senate Chairperson, extends invitation to BRICS Delhi meet

Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Sep 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Saturday met Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, here and extended an invitation to the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum to be held in New Delhi next month.

"In Samarkand, I had the opportunity of meeting Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan," Chadha said on social media platform X after the meeting.

Narbaeva is reportedly the first female Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan. Earlier, she was the Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Women's Committee between 2016 and 2019.

"It was a pleasure to personally invite her to the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, which will be hosted under the Chairmanship of India Parliament this October in Delhi," the BJP Rajya Sabha member said.

Chadha is now in Uzbekistan's Samarkand to represent the Parliament of India at the three-day 12th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians that began on Friday.

"It was a pleasure to personally invite her to the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, which will be hosted under the Chairmanship of India Parliament this October, in Delhi. India began its fourth term as BRICS chair this year, taking responsibility for coordinating the bloc's activities, hosting meetings, and setting the annual agenda."

"We spoke about the growing relationship between India and Uzbekistan. She (Tanzila Narbaeva) spoke very warmly about India and PM Narendra Modi ji's successful visit to Uzbekistan recently, and expressed keen interest in the invitation," the BJP MP said.

"We look forward to welcoming her (Tanzila Narbaeva) to India," Chadha added.

Earlier on Thursday, Chadha in a post on X said: "Honoured to have been selected to represent the Indian Parliament at the 12th Inter-Parliamentary Union Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from September 4-6. My gratitude to the Vice President (C.P. Radhakrishnan) for nominating me to this delegation. Founded in 1889 and headquartered in Geneva, the IPU is the world's oldest and largest body of national Parliaments, bringing together 180 Member Parliaments and 15 Associate Members. This year's theme: "Reclaiming human rights, justice and dignity for all in turbulent times". Over three days, young legislators from across the world will debate youth rights in conflict, digital rights and online safety, climate resilience and justice and economic opportunity for the youth. India is the world's largest democracy and home to one of its youngest populations, and on every one of these questions, our Parliament has a lot to offer and something to learn. As PM Narendra Modi Ji just concluded his successful visit to Uzbekistan, it is the privilege of our delegation to play a small role in carrying the momentum forward on the parliamentary side of our partnership."
